The Hiring Process

Apply.
The first step in the hiring process is to submit a resume and one of our online applications.We’ll review your application and schedule an interview if we have a compatible positions available for you.

Interview.
Our in depth interview will let us get to know you better and help us make the best match for you. We’ll conduct a thorough background check and connect you with compatible families.

Trial.
Once your background work is complete, you’ll interview with the family in their home. If the family feels you are a good fit for the position they’ll hire you for 1-2 trial shifts to ensure a good match.

Accept.
Once the family decides to make a hire, they’ll extend an official offer. We’ll help negotiate a fair salary package and comprehensive employment agreement.
Nanny Compensation

Hourly Rates
Nanny rates can vary and should be commensurate with experience and dependent on location, number of children and expected duties. Current rates range from $20 - $35 per hour.

Legal Pay
North Sound Nannies requires families to withhold taxes, match FICA and Social Security withholdings and issue a W-2 at the end of the year. Most families use a payroll company to make the process easy.

Guaranteed Hours
We require all families to offer guaranteed hours in accordance with your regular schedule. This policy ensures that you are never surprised by sudden loss of hours or pay.

Paid Time Off
We require families to offer sick leave accrual according to WA State Policy, at least 1 week of paid vacation time, and 6 paid holidays if the holiday lands on a regularly scheduled work day.

Over Time
Per WA State law, North Sound Nannies requires families to pay their nannies time and a half for hours the nanny works over 40 hours in a calendar week.

Reimbursement
Nannies should receive a per mile reimbursement (based on the federal rate) for gas and vehicle wear and tear for miles driven for their employer such as child transportation or requested errands.
